Cookie Policy
What cookies are, what categories we use on MediaDesign.ro, how to control your preferences.
1. What are cookies?
A cookie is a small text file stored on the User's device (computer, tablet, phone) when they access a website. Cookies allow the website to recognize the User's device on subsequent visits and to remember certain information about its use.
We also use technologies similar to cookies (local storage, pixel tags, scripts) that perform similar functions. Throughout this policy, we refer to all such technologies generically as "cookies".
2. Cookie categories on MediaDesign.ro
2.1 Strictly necessary cookies
Essential for the operation of the site. Without them, sections such as authentication, contact forms or the shopping cart cannot work. These cookies do not require the User's consent under Romanian Law 506/2004 Art. 4 para. (5) lit. b.
Examples: session token, CSRF token, current language preference, save cookie consent choice.
2.2 Preference cookies
Remember the User's choices to provide a personalized experience (e.g., selected language, region). They are activated only with the User's consent.
2.3 Statistics / analytics cookies
Collect anonymous information about how Users use the site (pages visited, duration, traffic source) to allow us to improve performance and content. They are activated only with the User's consent.
Providers used: Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Limited).
2.4 Marketing cookies
Allow personalization of advertisements displayed on third-party sites based on the User's interests. They are activated only with the User's consent.
Providers used: Meta Pixel (Meta Ireland), Google Ads (Google Ireland Limited), LinkedIn Insight Tag (LinkedIn Ireland), TikTok Pixel (TikTok Ireland).
3. Detailed cookies list
For full transparency (cookie name, provider, purpose, duration), see the detailed cookies list. The list is updated whenever the set of cookies used changes.
4. Legal basis for use
- Strictly necessary cookies: Art. 4 para. (5) lit. b of Romanian Law 506/2004 (transmission of a communication being the sole purpose) — no consent required.
- All other categories (preferences, statistics, marketing): Art. 4 para. (5) lit. a of Romanian Law 506/2004 + Art. 6 (1) lit. a of GDPR (consent) — activated only after the User's explicit consent via the cookie banner.
5. How to control your preferences
5.1 Via the cookie banner on the site
On first access to the site, the cookie banner allows you to:
- accept all categories;
- reject all non-essential categories (only strictly necessary cookies remain);
- customize the choice per category (preferences / statistics / marketing).
Per EDPB Guidelines 03/2022, withdrawing consent must be as easy as giving it. For that reason, you can always find the "Cookie settings" link in the site footer, which reopens the banner so you can change your choices at any time.
5.2 Via browser settings
All modern browsers allow you to block or delete cookies from settings. Here are the official guides:
Note: blocking strictly necessary cookies may affect site functionality (authentication, forms, cart).
6. International transfers
Some cookie providers (Google, Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok) are based or have servers outside the European Economic Area, including in the USA. Transfers are protected by:
- Standard Contractual Clauses (SCC) approved by the European Commission via Decision 2021/914;
- EU-US Data Privacy Framework — for certified providers.
7. Cookie retention
The duration of each cookie is indicated in the detailed list. In general:
- session cookies — deleted when the browser is closed;
- persistent strictly necessary cookies — max. 12 months;
- preference / statistics cookies — max. 13 months (CNIL recommendation);
- marketing cookies — max. 13 months.
Re-prompt logic: the User's consent choice is re-requested after 13 months or when the cookie set changes significantly.
8. User rights
As a data subject, you have all rights granted by GDPR (access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, portability). To exercise these rights in connection with cookie consent logs, use the dedicated form or contact us at contact@mediadesignro.ro.
9. Policy changes
This policy may be modified whenever the set of cookies used or the applicable legal framework changes. The updated version is published on this page with the date of the latest update.
